Is There Anything I Can Do to Help This Situation?
Question by Chandler: Is there anything I can do to help this situation?
I’ll try to explain this the best I can, sorry if this may be confusing but I’m sure it won’t.
On a weekend I attended a party, of course I consumed Alcohol and marijuana. When I got home, I wanted to run up to the gas station to get something to eat and drink because there wasn’t much to eat at home. It was 2 a.m. in the morning, and I took my mother’s car without permission. I drove up to the gas station which is roughly 3 blocks away and I parked on the side of the gas station where people normally don’t park, because I figured it would be easier to turn around and go back home. Then an officer pulled out in front of me as I was leaving and so I stopped the vehicle while the officer pulled beside me. The officer then reversed behind me and got my license plate and what not, then he came up to my window and did the basic routine. He gave me a breathalyzer and I blew a .06 and asked me to step out of the vehicle and he walked me to the back of his car, while I sat in the back he parked my mother’s car in a safer location. The officer then drove my back home and made me wake up my mom and talked to her and told me how much of a mistake I made.
I have a court date coming up May 18th at 10 A.M.
A couple weeks ago I had an interview with the probation chief, and her response to the interview was something along the lines of this.
“The juvenile was not honest with this officer and was not greatly troubled by the fact that there might be legal consequences for his actions. He did seem to be upset by his mother’s reactions, but showed little remorse in general. ”
If I didn’t show remorse in that interview, I must not know what remorse is. The officer chief also claimed that I do not spend much time with my father, only seeing him one week a summer. Which I know I did not say, I specifically said I see him every other week or whenever I can.
I lied to the probation officer about my substance use, which I shouldn’t of, I know.
The probation officer’s reason for recommendation is: Due to the seriousness of the situation that night, joy-riding while drunk and high, this officer believes this matter should be handled with a Petition of Delinquency to ensure the juvenile receives the intervention that is likely necessary to address the juveniles issues.
Dis positional options considered: Probation, Counseling, Short term detention.
If the juvenile were to admit to the offense in court, this officer would make the following recommendation for disposition: Withheld adjudication, Six month informal driver’s license suspension, one year supervised probation, Counseling assessments and follow recommendations regarding individual issues and substance abuse, 25 hours of community service, complete the Benton County Program for Change, Court costs and probation fees.
I just want to know how to handle this in court, I have no idea what to do. Plead guilty or not guilty?
its a Class C Misdemeanor I know this is nothing to be handled lightly
Advice would be appreciated and just any tips. In a lot of people’s opinions this is over the top for a class c misdemeanor.
I need to know how to act in court for this case please!
or any recommendations.
I am not insured on my mother’s car if you were wondering.
This probation officer makes me seem like a terrible person…

Are you under 18? It seems like it.
Do you have an attorney? I am sure you do. The judge won’t allow you to represent yourself in pro se.
You need to let your attorney handle this.
