Question by winwa: Is it correct for media to report that “in the raid, police “recovered” a large cocaine haul”?
If the cocaine did not belong to the police, neither was it stolen from anywhere isn’t it incorrect to talk of “recovery”?

In correct and proper english terms, no. It would be “…took into evidence…”, but in butchered english, “recovered” is the “correct” term.
