Is It Abuse?

Question by Christina: Is it abuse?
My best friend pierced her lip (yes by herself). She knew her mother wouldn’t like it, but she did it anyway. Hoping to hide it until it would heal up, then she could take it out and have scar tissue there to replace the ring easier than piercing it for the first time. When she got home from the first day of it being pierced, she put ice on it to bring the swelling down and was trying to take out the piercing to cover it up with some make-up, and her mom walks in. Her mother turns around, runs out to the garage to get needle-nose pliers (you can guess where this is heading). Her mother ripped out the piercing from her lip, took her to some sort of hospital/doctor, and explained how my friend tripped over a dog, hit a chair and bite through her lip (they believed the mother, though my friend didn’t say anything).I think it’s child abuse. I’m going to tell somebody here at school, but i’m just making sure it’s abuse before I get in over my head.
