One of several categories:
1) You may smell sweet, bitter, ammonia or solvent smells. It smells like a hospital due to the common use of ethyl ether as an anesthetic. Nasal irritant. Ether-like: Aromatic, sweet odor often accompanied by a sweet taste.
2) Smells like paint thinners, paint removers, adhesives, and cleaning fluids. Type of odor often found in auto body shops or furniture refinishing shops. Eye and nasal irritant.
3) Smells like odor found in vinegar, mayonnaise, salad dressings or pickled food. Pungent, acrid, or sour smell. Eye irritant.
4) Smells like wet diapers, glass cleaners, cattle feed-lots, or fertilizers. A sharp, irritating odor. Eye and nasal irritant.
Note: Meth lab homes that have been allowed to air out for some time may not have any detectable odors. The absence of odor in a home does not mean the home is not contaminated.

Muriatic acid Over the counter cold pills containing ephedrine or pseudoephedrine
Salt (table or rock) Sodium and Lithium metal
Starting Fluid (organic ether) Toluene
Trichloroethane (gun cleaning solvent)
IF YOU SUSPECT A METH LAB:
Leave the site at once and report it
Do not open any coolers, container or boxes
Do not touch any items
Don’t shut off any electrical supplies
Limit time inside scene
Handling meth chemicals and/or meth lab waste residue can burn your skin and eyes. Breathing the gases can cause respiratory damage
Try not to alert the suspects of your suspicions
