If I Was Charged With Amphetamine Use, and Have Since Been Prescribed Amphetamines?

Question by PW: If I was charged with amphetamine use, and have since been prescribed amphetamines?
Before being prescribed, I only used amphetamines 3 times, in the form of an adderall XR capsule, to keep me from flunking out of school. So no I’m not an addict. I was drug tested because 911 was called due to a drug interaction between an antidepressant I was taking and cough syrup. The last time I had taken the adderall was two days before.

I am in California, and from what I understand, they will generally make me do a drug rehab program (instead of jail) for this offense. But rehab wouldn’t make sense if I’ve had it prescribed. What do you think the prosecutor will do?
The only reason I included that “not addicted” explanation is to avoid the inevitable lecture. I guess there is no stopping the lectures here.
Also, its not so much the rehab that I am worried about. I’m mostly just worried about my record. I am trying to get a job, especially a driving job, and a drug misdemeanor charge isn’t helping.
