How Many Atheists Give to Charity?…?
Question by Deslok of Gammalon: How many Atheists give to charity?…?
How many Atheists give to the poor?…How many Atheists help people recover from drug and alcohol addiction? How many Atheists have homeless shelters or food banks? How many Atheists genuinely care for the sick, the helpless, the oppressed? those in prison? those in mental hospitals? those on their death beds with no relatives? How many atheists visit lonely elderly people and take them on a bus to the store or a park? How many atheists donate time and resources to children with cancer? battered wives? widows of police officers killed in the line of duty? or soldiers widows? Are there any atheists who help those less fortunate then themselves? Do atheists even care about those less fortunate then themselves?

I’m an atheist. I give regularly to UNICEF. I am a volunteer ESL tutor in my community. I’ve taken in stray animals. I’m knitting an afghan for Project Linus.
I’m faithful to my husband, I rarely drink, I don’t do drugs. I take care of the house, the dogs and the cats. My daughter is grown and is on her own.
I served in the U.S. Navy for almost five years. I have worked on the psychiatric unit of a hospital and also as a municipal county probation officer. I taught in the public schools for 12 years.
Where did you get such a negative idea about us? Have you ever met an atheist in person. We are basically pretty good, moral people, no different from anyone else.
