While it depends on how much alcohol that you have consumed, you should give it several hours. The thing is the alcohol has already did its damage and the the liver is stressed so taking IBU now may only lend to that stress. But I take it any time I need it. An hour or two is generally enough time. If this is not a daily practice for you, alcohol and ibuprofen, then do not worry much about it. Just make sure to have food with it to help buffer your stomach. A sandwich should do.
“NSAIDs can also increase your risk of serious effects on the stomach or intestines, including bleeding or perforation (forming of a hole). These conditions can be fatal and gastrointestinal effects can occur without warning at any time while you are taking an NSAID. Older adults may have an even greater risk of these serious gastrointestinal side effects.”

Do not panic as this is for very extensive use and or preexisting health conditions. As I said make sure to eat a meal to buffer your stomach and do not take more than 2200 mg per day (per my family doctor).
