How Do I Break My Male Dog From Butt Sniffing?
Question by mommyof1.3kids: How do I break my male dog from butt sniffing?
I understand that dogs sniff butts, it’s instinct. He knows better than to come near my backside. but I have two female dogs and everytime one walks near him, his nose goes straight up their rear end and it will stay there til they walk away or I fuss at him. It’s so bad that my 3 year old is starting to talk about it. What is worse is when he smells her butt. I do not want his nose anywhere around her rear end. I am ready to fix him, that will happen in about 2 weeks, I don’t know if his CRACK addiction is so serious that even fixing him won’t help. I know I will get rid of him if he does not stop smelling my child. I do not trust him around her..and I have to watch him constantly to make sure he stays away from her. My other two dogs never do this. All three stay inside and are all 70lb + dogs. What can I do?
Thankyou Sumantah, everyone else says that I shouldn’t worry about it because dogs do that. I may have made it sound worse, he will do absoutly nothing to her other than sniff her backside. I don’t want him doing this. He is however extreamly protective over her! But yes I will get rid of him if his problem isn’t fixed soon. I also had no clue dogs hated the smell of oranges. I absoutly will try that!

I honestly don’t think you can but you can bring him to a trainer or read a book on how train your dog. Or if this doesn’t hurt the females, dogs hate the scent of fresh orange (like the peel when you crack it), you could spray the dogs’ area of the butt with some citrus spray. It might work. Good luck.
