Dr. Gabor Mate works with drug addicts in one of the saddest neighbourhoods in Canada, East Vancouver. Life in what Buddhists might call this “Hell Realm” led him to write a book about addictions. “In the Realm of the Hungry Ghosts” calls for a sharp departure from the crime and punishment model of treating drug addicts.
