What I want to know is that do the anti-depressants have got some chronic effects on the brain involving nervous system??What is the most simple define of function of this SSRI drugs??What do they actually do to impress the mood n anxiety disorder?
Do they harm or having bad effects on our brain physically or mentally?

ssri drugs block serotonin from being reabsorbed in the brain. This keeps it around longer but does not increase serotonin. I dont know about long term effects but ssri’s are drugs and they perform actions in your body that don’t happen naturally. Serotonin is a powerful neurotransmitter and messing with its processes in the brain doesn’t seem healthy one bit to me.
