The United States is the only country with the drinking age of 21. So in result are other countries better off with a lower drinking age. What are the positive aspects?

It’s not the age but the attitude towards alcohol. In many European countries it is just another beverage. Just like we wouldn’t sit down and drink a 6-pack of Coke in a few hours, they wouldn’t do that with beer or wine. So the attitudes dictate responsibility with lower drinking ages. We don’t have that personal responsibility to a large extent. Also, countries like Germany have very strict DUI laws. Five years for a first offense. That’s quite a deterrent. They also have gashauses (bars) in every village that people can just walk to. The whole family will go and have dinner, have a drink, sing, listen to music, socialize, etc. Not a means to just go and get drunk.
