Define the theme of “Courage” as Harper Lee expresses it through the characters in the novel To Kill A Mocking Bird. Then I must pick a character that I think exemplifies this definition.

Answer by Legend
Well, this is just my opinion, but Harper Lee’s idea of courage is shown through her characters doing the right thing and being brave by not following society. Atticus shows this by standing up for Tom even when it was hopeless. Juror 8 (I think it was Juror 8, right?) showed this when he didn’t just automatically decide that Tom was guilty just because he was black. Another example of courage is how Ms. Dubose knew she was dying, yet still took tried to kick her morphine addiction before her life ended. She didn’t have to, but she was brave enough to resist it.
Hope I helped (:
