Chopin, Two Études Op.25 Played by Samson François

Samson François (1924-1970) brings some Gallic passion to his performances of Chopin’s Études Op.25/5 in E minor and Op.25/11 in A minor. François’ teachers included Nadia Boulanger, Alfred Cortot and Marguerite Long. His hedonistic lifestyle, including heavy drinking and drug abuse, precipitated an on-stage heart attack and an early death two years later. François recorded the complete Chopin Études in 1959. Artwork is by Ingres and Delacroix
