NORFOLK Jackie Richard often replays a scene in her mind from last July. She’s lying in bed staring at the ceiling of a room in a Mobile, Ala., nursing home. Her hands and feet have recently been amputated. She needs help to sit up. An aide has to spoon-feed her meals. Also, an elderly woman keeps wheeling in to yell that she’s in her room.
