Aren’t Alcohol Treatment Programs Just Grand Schemes to Rip Off People?

Question by ashley a: Aren’t alcohol treatment programs just grand schemes to rip off people?
They ask for so much money. Thousands of dollars are a lot. Sometimes I feel as if they aren’t there to help, for if they are, wouldn’t it be free?

No, alcohol treatment programs aren’t schemes to rip off people. It takes money to build a treatment center, it takes money to get yourself checked up by a doctor, right? When a person has a disorder and needs to be cured by medication and therapy, they pay the doctor for the services rendered. The same is true with alcohol treatment programs. They’re not trying to rip you off. They just can’t give you that good of a service if they aren’t getting anything in return. How would they be able to have good facilities and get good doctors if they don’t have the money? Besides, a treatment program costs less than continuing alcohol use. A thousand dollars is nothing if compared to you losing your life.
